Seller Survival Tactics For Ebay & Amazon – Increase Limits, Suspensions, Protect Account

[UltraVid id=91 ]what do you do when you get that dreaded email from ebay and amazon you know you’re limited you can no longer sell now obviously this is a very difficult situation for people that are sellers full time online or even if they make a significant amount of income and I’ve had people that make even a few million a year ask me for help when they get into this type of situation and matter of fact I’m helping one right now that’s got a pretty big situation now of course one of the main things to do would be to call ebay up on the phone okay don’t send them an email it’s a waste of time don’t chat with them on some chat live chat just call them on the phone and you know figure out what the problem is and then you have to kind of read the person that you’re talking to at ebay and kind of probe their mind and what type of person they are and then you have to figure out what is the best avenue sort of on the fly I guess you could you know get them on the phone and I say hey can I call you back another time with a certain extension you could do that if you do it right in a delicate manner but the main point is to probe their mind understand the situation why were you frozen and to put yourself in the best light and to maybe get the person to feel sorry for you even okay and actually this can work quite well I’ve had people I’ve coached tell me how they were able to I don’t know if you’d want to see influence may be the right word others to do something it’s you know ways to motivate people and to understand the psyche if you tell them how important the account is to you and maybe the problems you would face and maybe something of you know why you’re you’re the type of person that they’d want to help maybe you’re a widow maybe you’re someone who had someone recently died in a family that used to make the money you see what I mean something like that that’s one little thing too if you understand what the situation is you could provide whatever information need of course you shouldn’t argue with them you shouldn’t yell at them you should be very nice it’s kind of like when you get pulled over by a policeman you don’t start saying to them why aren’t you at the doughnut shop or why aren’t you arresting some drug dealer they’re not going to take it very well and you’re going to get a big ticket you know I mean I’ve actually gotten pulled over the last three times and never got a ticket because I’m always nice if you’re just nice to them you don’t yell at them you just act totally calm and you’re and you’re just cooperating completely they’ll often just let you off the hook and with ebay it’s the same kind of idea you wouldn’t want to yell at them you wouldn’t want to defend yourself it’s not about that it’s giving them what they need answering your questions and putting yourself in a light to where they would feel sorry for you of course if you got a total jackass on the phone it might be obviously that would be a bad situation and usually you won’t get a jackass like on the phone like this but um if you got a jackass on the phone maybe just try to make the call short and say hey you know just try to get them off the phone but in a good way so that you can call back and talk to somebody who’s more of a normal human being and not a jackass you know I mean so that’s kind of what I’m getting at you can call back and get a different person on the phone who might actually have a conscience or something like that of course I think most of them do the point is is that you don’t get defensive you don’t start biting you know so arguing this is a good way to get your account back on the phone okay providing what they need and giving a really important answer to whatever they ask and inputting framing your own situation to where they would feel sorry for you where they would completely understand something that sounds normal because they might be looking for something that they don’t like and you want to keep yourself as far away from that non like thing as possible when you’re talking to them so this is obviously what you want to do to save an account now obviously it’s wise to have more than one account it’s not illegal the whole idea is to have a different tax ID or entity for each account for instance I could have an account for me personally I could have account for one of my companies that I am I could have an account for my other company I actually have two companies so of course you would have to keep them all separated because ebay would treat you treat all three is the same entity if you’re all on the same IP address and on the same computer so and actually you can use the same computer you would just have to make a new pc user you would have to have a different IP address and this is how you could have multiple accounts and of course it’s completely legitimate because you’re using a different tax ID for each one and actually you don’t even have to give a tax idea until you hit 200 sales or twenty thousand dollars in sales in a given year you could do 20 you could do 180 sales and 18,000 on three different accounts and never have to give a tax ID of course if you if you get up to that range they’re probably going to ask for it anyways usually when you hit the halfway point or past it they’ll start asking and of course another thing is if you get limited because you didn’t give them your tax ID check your account the next year usually they unlock it they take that little limitation off that’s what they’ve done for me so even if you get limited it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for that account you just wait for the next year and usually when the year comes around the unlock unlimited because it resets you only again you have 200 sales $20,000 before they have to report it to the IRS it’s a law you know a federal law so this is what I’m trying to get I’m just trying to tell you some common sense here now one person that’s asking me for help with coaching they with with a situation they happen to have done something a little odd they tried to add a new paypal account to an existing ebay account that actually had a lot of feedback now that not might not necessarily be a bad idea if you do it right if you have the paypal account match the ebay account and obviously if you had another ebay account you would want to have this one on a new IP address in a new pc user but the thing the problem with it is if that ebay account has you know high limits that paypal accounts brand new you you have to pretend as if you’re looking at the paypals limits and you wouldn’t want to put up a bunch of listings and make a bunch of sales just because your ebay has high limits your paypal is new so you have to so this is why it’s a bad idea to do that in the first place you should have an ebay and a paypal account that are made at the same time that have high limits you see what I’m getting at you shouldn’t try to take a high limit ebay and put a new paypal on it that’s it’s just going to completely limit you in the first place because they use automated scripts to check on little Peaks or spikes if your listing a bunch of stuff if you make a bunch of sales they have automated scripts to that that alerts people at paypal or ebay hey this guy’s making a bunch of mont and sells on a new account and then they go look into the situation you see it i’m getting at so you want to stander the radar of course the idea is to keep everything as clean as possible and you know like if you’re going to buy an ebay and paypal account you would want to make sure if you can to get the IP address transferred to you and you can actually do that if you do it a certain way and if you’re if you’re just going to build up an ebay paypal county and you want to increase the limits really quickly i recommend selling the same product that you can scale up let’s say it’s a product that sells like crazy and let’s say there’s may be very similar models in different variations and you can sell a lot of them you would start out slow and steadily build and just keep building since your son the exact same items or very related items ebay looks at it as being the same items and they they look at your account and it judge you based on risk assessment this is how ebay and paypal works this is what I’ve talked to a high level paypal employee and this is what they told me they do so basically what I’m saying is they look at your previous history from the previous month and they gauge how much they trust you off that if you’re selling the same thing over and over or very similar variations and you’re just expanding you know very similar models and colors that’s the fastest way to increase your limits on eBay okay that’s that’s the fastest period I’ve seen people do it I’ve seen various people and how it went for them when they’ve tried different things and the fastest i’ve seen is this what I’m telling you right now okay so I’m just giving you some advice I think it’s wise to have more than one ebay account I think it’s wise to have more mana amazonica I think you should have a ebay main account I think you should have a testing account I think you should have it a backup account for amazon or ebay obviously the main account is the one that you’re kind of like focused on the testing account is where you throw new items to make sure everything goes right the backup account is is it if something goes wrong okay and if one of them fails you can create a new one or you can buy a new one I said I mean so this way you have sort of a good plan of attack and you don’t end up with like a multi-million dollar company on one ebay account and it blows up because some jackass maybe competitor made a fake ass account and went bought some stuff from you and then file disputes and claimed it was counterfeit which does happen it does this is how they get rid of their competition see if ebay wasn’t a bunch of idiots this wouldn’t work but see because ebay allows this kind of stuff it works it shouldn’t work but it does but there is a way to defeat it and I’ve actually done it myself what you do is when you get customers you check their the feedback they leave for others the feedback they leave for others if it’s a fake count made by a competitor what they generally do is they keep buying from competitors and keep the same rabbit trail they’ll have the same pattern where they’ll file a dispute maybe leave a negative Santa’s fake and help keep buying the same products or very related products which shows the pattern that they’re for fraudulent account I’ve actually identified a couple and got him kicked off of ebay doing this so if you point this off to ebay hey this guy’s a fraud he’s a fake he’s a competitor who made it false account and he’s going around and buying from his competitors to try to get him kicked off ebay and you report them you can get them kicked off and then you’ll be okay so this is this is a good counter technique to those scumbag competitors that would do something like that and you’ll get them kicked off and if they’re not diligent you might be able to kill their main account as well see what I mean kind of interesting right especially if they’re dumb enough to use your main account to buy from you but so this is just some tactics I’m just telling you various tactics that would work on ebay and amazon even on amazon you have scumbags to do this stuff okay and there’s other tactics i mean if you’re selling something that’s a name brand item it’s popular it’s wise when you first start selling it to only lists one at a time and then just keep relisting it if you have lots available because some competitors will if you if you would list like 50 they’ll the complaint saying that you’re selling fakes and when you’re not song figs see what I mean and that nice of them but they’ll do that and of course Amazon’s not as much they usually don’t just believe whenever someone makes an accusation but it’s just I’m just telling you paratore type of things you can do based on history of working with a lot of different sellers so the point is is if you have three accounts going if you’re wise with your sales you won’t even have to run into any of this kind of stuff okay I don’t have problems on people anymore I’ve been doing it for 15 years I it’s extremely rare for me to get a dispute and actually the last couple disputes I have were just idiots they weren’t willing to wait a day for me to send them an email or something you know in other words with you had to do with me coaching them or something like that and they weren’t willing to wait a day to get a response from me but other than that I’ve had basically almost no disputes so I’ve gotten it down quite well to wear very rarely good disputes know and I understand how much how paypal looks at things I know how much money to take out I know exactly how they think in so many ways that basically I never have any problems with paypal anymore you know back in the old days I had problems with them sometimes I run into stuff but once you understand the psychology you don’t end up running into problems and the same with ebay or amazon once you understand how they think once you know that their risk assessment based you know you know goes list you know you’re all excited you got all this new inventory you don’t go list 50 items items you never saw before that makes that that’s like the risk alert thing goes up beep beep this person is doing something new go check them out then they said freeze you and say hey prove that you own this stuff you know they’ll do that sometimes so what you should always do is start up with new items you should start out listing only a couple and slowly steadily build it whatever the new item is and if you continually sell the same same type of items you can kind of get past that because they’ve already got a history of you saw in it and you can just you know keep increasing it and they’ll keep raising your limits so once you understand their psychology and Amazon’s the same way except for Amazon’s not as anal as eBay and Amazon doesn’t put limits on you but they do in a sense of it’s an invisible limit like if you just start going crazy listing stuff they’ll probably suspend you because they said they’d still take the risk assessment approach ok and you’ll once in a while run into this with ebay and amazon that you can go crazy and start listing stuff like crazy and they’ll let you do it until you hit a dispute you know you’d be like I’m selling the stuff hand over fist and sometimes they’ll just go for it be like okay this guy’s you know walking on water he’s cool you know and he’s got no problems yet they’ll sometimes just I don’t think they do as much as they used to but as soon as you get one dispute shit hits the fan you and I mean you’re frozen prove that you own this shit do this at any other now they take more of AI think they’re a little bit more conservative and they just don’t let people do that and if you start trying to do that they just freeze you I mean I’m talking about when you just like in the old days on ebay you just get on any just like bull just trying to sell everything in the world as fast as you can I used to like those days I was pretty cool you just slap up a million things and get tons of sales now you’ve got to build your way up you got to prove yourself you got to do all this stuff so I’m just telling you know and if you got three accounts you got three times the power right there okay oh I can only sell this much well if you got three accounts you can sell three times as much do you see I mean if you got four couch you can sell four times as much this is this is the point that’s why it’s good to have more one account and of course you can sell a lot of stuff that you saw on ebay on amazon and amazon and ebay you can make good sales on both and there’s other websites too there’s craigslist there’s bonanza pricegrabber for some stuff Amazon ads are not bad your own website with google shopping via google adwords where it’s a data feed through the adwords that’s not bad I wouldn’t say go directly with AdWords direct AdWords sucks ass I would say a website with a day to feed through the Google Shopping google adwords route if you know what i’m talking about if you’ve done that you know what I’m talking about yet the first get approved for the Google Shopping listings and then you go over and you make a campaign and AdWords through the google shopping and then you get you get some good at you get some good traffic that way and it’s worth the money I used to do it so those are some good ways to make sales and I you know what the big dudes do what the big companies do or sort of big companies they have their own website they’re doing what I’m talking about with using Amazon ads and are using google shopping via google adwords they might even use bing shopping being at bings ad system adcenter you don’t get much from pinging though um there’s a shop wiki and but you get your website on all these different pay pay per click type things you got pricegrabber all these different ones right so you get out into some of those just avoid Christmas usually they double the cost on pay per click at Christmas and it’s not worth any money because they take all your profits basically they rape you but pay-per-click can be good if you go with the right ones and there’s some websites you can do research on I’ve done research on it and I just told you some of the good ones already but you’ve got your website you got amazon you got an ebay presence you got maybe even some other websites you can get on sears sometimes you can throw your stuff up on sears you can throw your stuff up on various websites even what’s it called newegg sometimes you can make a deal with some of these companies you can get listed on there as well if you get good inventory so you know if you got amazon FBA you can may be thrilled get yourself up on newegg and some of these other websites and that’s what these big companies do like what does it can’t camera rama or whatever there’s like a bunch of camera companies and there’s a bunch of guitar companies and all these different types of companies have john rows of products they sell and they do the all the same thing you got a website you got an amazon presents got an ebay presence they got all these different presences on all the different websites okay so that’s I mean that’s the approach you would take and if you did have three accounts you’d want to sell different stuff on each account and of course if you’re trying to make it huge you would want to make sure your main account doesn’t get shut down so you would want to focus on making sure everything test get on the testing account before you thrown on the main account I don’t know I’m just I’m just talking some you know advice based on coaching tons of people and having people sell underneath me and just seeing how things work and how these companies operate I’m just telling you some good advice based on you know not just my experience but people that talk to me that cell with me that work with me we’re talking a lot of different people they’ll tell me what’s going on and they’ll tell me what how the Amazon reacts howl ebay reacts how this that the other goes and so this is kind of like a culmination of wisdom sort of based on what’s going on right now with ebay and amazon so hopefully it helps you a little bit with your business
